Windows Live Messenger keeps crashing when finished talking

Hi there,

I downloaded windows live messenger version 8.0.0812.00 recently to my laptop which has windows XP. The laptop came with Windows messenger 4.7 already installed. Whenever I have finished a talking to someone over the internet using the 8.0 version it freezes and the only way to end the program is by pressing Ctrl Alt Del.

Can someone help?

When you say "finished a talking to someone", you mean that you exit the Messenger and that it freezes there?

Thanks for your reply. I mean, when I the other person has hung up it freezes, I don't get a chance to close the program.
