New contact window, opens Hotmail....

For some reason .. EVERYTIME a new contact window is opened, regardless of if I open it, or if someone trys to contact me, as soon as I click in the "typing" box .. A Hotmail webpage opens, as if the contact was offline. and it wants me to send a email rather than IM.

Once I close the hotmail window all is fine untill a new MSN window is opened. then it's Rinse and repeat. I am really getting sick of the extra click :P

Please. anyone else had this problem or have a solution?

7.5? .. well .. I reinstalled hoping that would fix it .. so whatever the newest one is from the windows messenger site.

On the main Messenger menu please click Help / About Messenger. Knowing the exact version you are on is important. Please provides the full version and build number.

I can't find that option at all. The only thing I can do to get in and change settings is right click my name, and then go down to options .. there is nothing in there that tells me what version.

Sorry, but I need some help with this .. I have no "help" accept the one that takes me to the help website. nothing I can find lists what version I have.

Doesn't sound like you have your top menu set to display. If you'r on the last stable version (not the beta) you should see a small icon that looks like 2 little grey boxes hooked together (if I remember correctly). If you happen to be on beta, next to the search box there are some icons. If you hover your mouse over the icons, you'll find one that says "show menu". Once you click it you can get to Tools/Options and check your version.

This behaviour sounds a bit like that of malware. What firewall and anti-virus program are you using? I'd suggest a full scan for viruses and also a scan with Spybot ad Ad-Aware for spyware/malware.

Let me know if those scans find anything - and of course if they do - let the program fix it. Then check and see if the problem continues.
