Lsass.exe is a legitimate process for Windows. However, there are also trojans that manifest using the same name and higher than normal resource consumption can be a symptom.

What Anti-Virus program are you using? I'd also recommend a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Save it to your to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location, but you don't need to post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.

Let me know if it finds anything, and if so - does removing it help the problem you are describing.

I too use AVG and I agree, I liked older versions better, but the changes to the recent one were necessary for better protection. Malwarebytes is one of the better programs for removing Malware that is not addressed by anti-virus programs. It's free for personal use and I recommend it highly as a part of regular maintenance. It's up to you if you want to try use and keep it or not.

I'd like to try a possibly workaround within WLM. I've seen posts which indicate NOT storing your contacts locally may help solve this problem. So what you could do is go to Tools/Options/Security and tick "This is a shared computer so don't store my address book, display picture, or personal message on it". After saving it, shut down messenger, reboot your system and see if the problem still occurs.

Let me know how it goes.

It is scanning atm. For me to test that i'd have to go delete the new msn and redownload the one i had. If it something you want me to try i will. but it seems to me like i will have to live with the new msn?

I redownloaded the 2008 version. restarted. ticked that this was a shared comp. restarted again. and it loads perfectly. no lag. no delay. PROBLEM FIXED! Thank you =)

I now have a question .... which versions do you think uses less cpu/ram to run? the newest version or the 2008?

Great! Looks good there!

For the workaround in Windows Live Messenger directly:

You do not need to download an old version. Simply go to the menu in your current option and change the settings to test it.

Why do you believe you'd need a different version of WLM to test this?
