What operating system are you using? XP...Vista...Windows 7? Are you running single or dual monitor?

Have you tried right clicking in an open area of your taskbar and choosing "show windows stacked" or "show windows side by side??

What happens when you get an incoming IM? Does it flash in the taskbar or does it open a chat window and you are able to hold a conversation?

Are you using any third party add-ins like Plus!?

On the desktop shortcut for WLM, right-click and choose Properties. On the tab labeled Shortcut, choose Run and in the drop down select Normal Window or (if Normal does not work try Maximized Window.)

Let me know if that helps.

If you do not have a desktop shortcut for WLM, go to Start / All Programs

Find Windows Live Messenger in your program listing (it may be in a folder called Windows Live), then right-click and choose Properties. On the tab labeled Shortcut, choose Run and in the drop down select Normal Window or (if Normal does not work try Maximized Window.)

You need to be doing this from the application shortcut NOT the minimized window on the taskbar.
