Loss of sounds in WLM

I have had this problem periodically for some time for a number of versions of MSN and WLM. Every so often one of the ads that appears at the bottom of the main window seems to take over all WLM sounds and other sounds on y oc as well eg mail arriving notification and scheduled events pop up. When the ad changes it normallyallows sound again. It also stops me from playing audio files by windows media player etc.

I have an ad at the moment for Poker Evolved and that is doing it again.

I have been unable to find anyone else with the same problem apart from one person. I tried removing the ad with the A-Patch program but that just hides it and doesn't remove it of course. Anyone any ideas for a cause/solution?

Not a major major issue, just always bugs me.

Neil

Since the ads are flash based, can I verify you have the latest version of Flash installed?

Also, when you say it takes over your sounds I'm a little confused. Are you actually hearing sound as if you had clicked on an ad, or are your sounds being muted until the ad changes?

It's also advisable to make sure your Java is up to date and all older versions are removed. Can you please verify the version of Java you are using?

Finally, which OS (XP or Vista) and what Service Pack are you running?

I'm sure it is frustrating. I used to have a problem where my machine would intermittently lose all sound and it was most frustrating.
