Yahoo! MessengerText messaging is huge in Europe, but hasn’t really taken off in the U.S. Cingular is hoping to change that, announcing the ability for their wireless subscribers to send and receive text messages with Yahoo users via their mobile phones.

Unfortunately, this connectivity comes at a price. While Yahoo users can send messages from their computer to Cingular subscribers for free, the wireless recipient may pay as much as $0.10 per message. And this charge applies both to messages received and sent, meaning that a simple exchange of several messages could easily cost more than a phone call.
