AVMedia has created a really slick translating proxy for Yahoo! Messenger. Yahoo Translating Proxy (YTP) is a two-way translator that automatically translates what you type and the messages your receive.
How does it work? For example, if you're typing to someone in English, they can choose to receive the messages in French. They can reply in French and the messages will be automatically translated to English for you. YTP currently supports English <--> German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese; and French <--> German. The Yahoo Translating Proxy currently uses Google's Translation service, and it's completely transparent to the other person. The proxy is currently available for download under the GNU General Public License. It requires the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later. You can download the binaries and get all the details from the official YTP web site. Last edited by Jeff : 01-10-2006 at 10:09 PM.
