Problem with Sounds

My sister and I have the same sound files in the Program Files/Yahoo/Messenger/Media (the ones that came with it like knock or chimes and a couple of new ones we added)

During an IM or Conference...I can send the command
<snd=knock>

and while I can hear the sound on my speaker...she can not hear it. She gets a text of the file and I get a speaker graphic. When I click on the graphic it says that there is a chat error or something like that (a yellow triangle with an exclamation point).

Why can't she hear what I am sending and vice versa? We have the same files listed and when I send them to myself in a test IM...I have no problems.

Thanks...
Lynn

It sounds like she or someone else has modified the filter1.txt file on her computer. This file is found in the same directory where Yahoo Messenger is installed (usually C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\filter1.txt). By default, it contains a list of profanity that will be filtered out by Yahoo. You can add (or removed) words from this list if you want. It is also commonly used to add anti-booter codes. <snd is one of the commonly filtered boot codes.

Have her check that file and make sure <snd is not in there. She can edit it with Notepad and safely remove that text. Save the change, restart Messenger and try it again.

And let us know if that worked!
