ok peoples listen up...i know what yall r talkin bout and most of the **** yall been sayin is true...yes yahoo does hav bugs in it...thats old ****ing news...and yes it [u]IS POSSIBLE [/b]to view some1s cam w/o them knowing....but heres the real deal..there are programs out there to view peoples cam without them knowing, but the thing is they know ur there, but they cant view ur yahoo profile or info or anything not even ur s/n...however there is a prog that lets u get on ppls cam w/o them knowing at all...it doesnt hav a name...its jus there...its like a gun that shoots armor peircing bullets..u know its out there but uv neva seen it and u prolly neva will....now this prog u will not be able to buy..or get off the internet...u hav to make it and u cant get the plans off the internet to make it..i know because iv done it before but deleted it cause i only did it cause i was bored..i did not torment anybody wit but i did try it and it does work..now...this person thats being stalkd...that person is being stalkd by a hacker..the only way to get rid of this guy is a few things and its best to do all of them...unplug ur cam first thing....second-call an organization like the person said they did. third-don't let the person know uv calld the cop or w/e cause ur gonna want there information..ur gonna needa get their IP address and find out everything u can...they hav ppl for this...theyre calld the FBI, hackers that r willing to help, etc, etc....ok bak to the cam on and off thing.......liek some 1 said before...the person being stalkd has prolly been hackd and theres most likely a back door trojan on the comp that allows the sender to view the persons cam w/o them knowing and turn it on and off when they feel like it....its a cheap hacking trick really..any decent hacker can do it...the only way to get rid of this guy is to completely reinstall ur comp and get a new IP address........well i hope this helps u little ppls

[u]Caine[/b]:
Your claims that there is a program that will allow a person to view someone's webcam without their permission are unfounded and unprovable. If you could send me the source code for this suppossed program, I might lend you some credibility. I think you are mistaking anonymous access with unauthorized access. There is only one possible way to view someone's webcam without them knowing(through Yahoo), and that is if their webcam settings are set to "[u]allow any user to view my webcam[/b]". The protocol requires access be granted by the owner unless the previous noted setting is enable.

On a different note regarding trojan programs, these are easy to hide, and can do the following things remotely: log keystrokes taken from the keyboard, take screenshots, open and close programs(including webcam capture programs), reboot the computer, shutdown the computer, etc. These programs are easily disguised in any executable program, and can even email a specific person once the trojan has been executed and has infected the system.

These programs were originally designed by System Administrators to make their job of installing software and accessing PC's over Local Area Networks, and Wide Area Networks easier. They are now being used maliciously by "script kiddies" and low-lives. I would suggest everyone who uses a computer and/or the internet to raise their awareness of these types of programs, no matter what their knowledge of computers.

The following are some informational pages regarding Trojans and thier like, I suggest anyone who has little or no knowledge about trojans to go to these sites and read the information:

The no permission program may be unfound by u but not by me and i didnt bother to keep the source code when i got rid of the damned thing..do i really look that ****in stupid...its not like i ****in unhackable...(i wish i was though).....and one more thing mister know it all....yes the only legal way(through yahoo) to view some1's cam is the anyone may veiw setting...THE ONLY LEGAL WAY YOU GOD DAMN DUMBASS MOTHA ****A...hacking isn't ****in legal and neither is veiwing cams w/o persmission....so in other words the program and hacking through yahoo aint ****in legal either...but you dont hav to go through yahoo to turn on a cam because they hav TROJANS that u can hack some1's computer and infect their **** and turn the cam on and off....

Well just because you "didn't bother to keep the source code" to this unfounded program, I am supposed to believe you? Well I'm sorry but I don't. Secondly, if you removed all of the unneccesary swear words, and incomprehensible stuff from your post; you repeated what I posted previously.

Just a simple piece of advice: If you want to have some credibility in your posting, you might want to try the following. Use proper english grammar and sentence structure. You also might want to use a spell checker. Also using profanity not only destroys your credibility, but also makes you look very immature.

I didn't mean to throw this topic off, however I felt that the previous post was only repetitious and didn't bring anything new to the subject. My previous post however was meant to enlighten those who have no knowledge of the subject. If I offended anyone (Caine) it was unintentional, and I apoligize. I am no expert and am only stating my opinion here.

unfortunately caine is correct - best thing to do is unplug the cam when not in use - I'm not gonna go into all details and try to prove my point - if you wanna take it for what it is, fine, if you wanna believe yahoo and users are impenetrable, fine - that's all up to you. Majority of all users claim this and that - only a small percent know what they are doing - everybody wants proof if this and that, why would you need to know? - I hope her friend has had this matter taken care of.

Of course you can view a webcam without someone knowing - but not via Yahoo Messenger AFAIK. You will need to sneak a trojan onto the remote computer somehow and then view the webcam using the trojan. This subject is about internet security, not about Yahoo Messenger.

I've locked Caine's account for verbal diarhea. He hasn't been back since the day he first joined anyway. I still think his mysterious software that he spoke of is vaporware.

I had a friend do this to me. There are a few things they can actually do to get access to your cam without you knowing, BUT, NOT how most people are thinking. He's one of those hacker types and played a joke on me. He took a picture of my dorm while i was out away from my computer... turned yahoo on and had my status as 'dumba$$'... and made my desktop picture the picture of my room that he took with my cam while i was away.

He said there are three ways to do it:

1. A few programs allow "Anonymous" webcam requests, it is KNOWN to the user when they have a webcam on and you request, but it just doesnt show your id. THEY DO KNOW YOU ARE REQUESTING THOUGH, he said there is NO WAY TO FAKE THIS also.

2. In the yahoo options they can somehow change your preferences file to make it so that their id is an authorized user. An authorized user can request your cam w/o you knowing but you WILL SEE ANOTHER VIEWER on the webcam '___ people are watching you" thing.

3. They can do a script kid program, there's like hundreds of them. All are basically the same, once they get on your puter they have almost unlimited control... they disable virus scanners, capture keystrokes (your yahoo password and change your options), they can run programs when you are away from your computer and control your screen as if it was theirs (i saw him hit my start button, run yahoo, then sign on and start sending a message to myself).

They can also view your webcam, turn it on if its off (a light is on most cams telling you they are on, but it has nothing to do with yahoo)

Now... by far the most dangerous is the 3rd one. With a program like that on your computer they can actually see your friend on the webcam without him/her knowing, can take snapshots and download them onto their own computer, steal passwords, log conversations, do just about anything as if they were sitting next to your friend.

The best way to fix it is to unplug your internet connection, change your yahoo password, scan with an online virus scanner like housecall from trendmicro, and goto msconfig and disable any programs that are not normal to what they run.
