What about idle time??

[Subject spell-checked by admin]

Is there any way to find how long the user have been logged on in Yahoo Messenger. Its just a doubt and it got nothing to do with his/her privacy. Is the idle time against the idle members is correct? Coz when i logged out n logged in i see the time starts from 0 mins once again.

1.
  • a. Not employed or busy: idle carpenters. See Synonyms at inactive.

The idle time is the time elapsed since they last posted.

The time starts when you enter the room, which is not very useful if you are looking to see if a user is actually active in the room, or just left it open in the background.

Are you talking about idle time related to chat, or people on your friends list, the idles in chat reset when u enter a room, would be much better if it would just show their actual idle time, but i guess it works. These times aren't always accurate sometimes they don't reset when someone posts a message in a room. On messenger most people show as idle after 15 minutes, and it doesn't reset if u re-login, if u don't use your computer for 15 minutes, or w/e you have it set on, then it will show you as idle.
If you are really wanting to know how long someone has been online, then you need to use aim, but if you want an idea how long someone has been online on yahoo, and they are on your friends list, you can open a message window up to them, and if they sign online, it will tell you in the box what time they signed online(but they have to be on your friends list). If they sign offline the text will show what time they signed off, instead of when they signed on.

Actually you can set your status to idle by modifying [again] the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\Pager\profiles\your_yahoo_id\Custom Msgs) or using Andy_w2s' YStatusFX.

You can start regedit by going to start, run typing regedit and pressing ok. This will start up the registry editor.

For basic info on editing the registry, you can see http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/regedit.php there is also a program that can be used to edit status messages here http://www.carbonize.co.uk/Yahoo/programs.php (Messy Stuff)

The program is safe, and very small to download!
