need help for Yahoo messenger voice function

Hi, please help me if you know

Problem: I tried to use Yahoo messenger to talk with a friend.

But only he can hear my voice, but I can't hear his.

When he talked sometime, the messenger showed very week voice signal from him.

Operation Systems: Mine is windows XP and my friend's is windows 98

It's your friend then, it's not coming through loud. He should turn up his recording/mic volume. Start>>run sndvol32 , options>>properties, select recording, check mic is checked, then turn it up. This is for you friend.

I have found that with voice- sometimes you just have to use trial and error. Log on and off- shut computers down etc. However- usually it will work itself out in time. (But of course- I am not sure if taking advice from someone who has actually hit her MONITOR to make something work- is a good idea... although the hitting did work)

I used to hit my monitor too!!!

It was the only way to get the components inside that burnt to join back together again so I could get a picture! Thank god for warranties!

As for the voice, if yahoo! is showing a small input volume, it does sound as though the friend has their mic recording too low, hence very weak output to yahoo!.
