The WinXP SP1 Yahoo & Webcam Problem

I found out by searching the web and deja.com, that i'm not the only with this problem.

The problem is that as soon as i start the webcam, yahoo (5.5, 5.6) im freezes in a manner that requires me to reboot. even when i try the compatibility test that yahoo offers IE6 freezes. the problem is with xp service pack 1 and yahoo messenger's webcam service. in preferences the video source and the other thing there are gray.

I haven't found ANY SOLUTION. so obviously i'm pissed off.

i use windows xp media center with sp1 built in, so even if i wanted to, i couldn't uninstall sp1.

is there any registry fix, or whatever that could fix this problem?

PLEASE HELP ME

thank you

wow, so many replies. anyway, trillian pro has webcam capability for yahoo, so that seems to work ok. not great, a bit slow, and it says there's a fatal error, but people can see me.
