Random disconnects

Hello all I'm using w98se IE6 on a dsl connection, it seems like after I upgraded to the last to the latest and latest messenger 5.6.0 1347 I keep getting random disconnects. There's no warning, Yahoo support says to them it sounds like another program is trying to use msngr also and it was a bad install. So I installed as per their directions and guess what? still random disconnects, it can happen anytime whether I'm using it to IM or idle. I filled out the survey Yahoo sends and told them it was still happening as it was since the upgrade and if it was an issue with msngr they should just say so and tell people they were working on it. They haven't replied. Ok I'm finished ranting, maybe there is something someone knows I can try to fix this. My firewall rules are configured to let msngr do what it needs to do, I have no virus etc. Should I try an older version perhaps to see if it still does it? thanks Nyte

Couldn't hurt. Uninstall your current version and try a previous one. You can download a previous version from http://www.freecreed.com/directory.html (at the bottom of the page). I'm using 5.5.0.1254 and have no problems. No guarantee's though.

Thanks for the speedy reply, I was just in Freddy's Utilities (lots of good info) and found the link there. I'm going to try the old one and see how it goes. thanks again
