When you get this does it allow you to sign on again after you crash correctly? And only crash again when you get new offline messages.

Or is it saying that you have offline messages every time you log on and you crash when you try to get them.

Somehow i cant believe that windows XP pro has anything to do with your offline messages problem. I suggest you to reinstall your yahoo messenger and use the latest version.

This sounds similar to a problem I was having recently. I uninstalled the yahoo I had and reinstalled an earlier version and updated it and all the problems went away. I had version 5.6 and put 5.5 on and then updated. Go here to find all versions plus other neat stuff.

If it is showing every time you log on that you have offline messages and when you click to read them it crashes the program, (they dont go away, as in my question before in my earlier post).
Go to your yahoo folder and your offline messages are saved there (in your profile folder), the reason it could be crashing is you recieved a "bad" message of some sort, and yahoo is unable to display it without crashing, so whenever you try to view the offline messages the message crashes. Delete the offline messages in the folder and then when you get new offline messages, you should be able to recieve them correctly.

If that is not the reason for the crash, and you are just crashing every time you recieve NEW offline messages.. then try to re-install yahoo messenger... That might fix the problem.

Depending on the version of Messenger... in v8.1 and below, if you have archiving on, they'll be saved to it. In v9.0, once you exit the offlines, they're gone.

In v9.0, you can keep archives. The messages are not deleted if you enable archiving, no matter what Yahoo messenger version you have.
