Problem of using Yahoo messenger to chat room

Hi,

I have downloaded Yahoo Messenger from US Yahoo messenger page. But I want to go to Chinese chat room. I don't know how to make this happen. I have tried download Yahoo Messenger from Chinese Yahoo messenger page, but still get in US chat room. Please let me know how I can do it. I live in US, use XP and Cable access to internet. Thanks

Open messanger click on chat >that opens a window that list rooms under the regional click the + sign find the china click it , that opens yahoo rooms China and Hong Kong rooms click one and click goto room .

Yes, there are chinese chat rooms there. But this is still in US region. I have removed all Yahoo messenger files and go to China Yahoo web. Now it connects to china regional chat room. But I got another problem. Some chinese fonts are unreadable on my windows 2000 machine (XP working fine after I changed language on manu to chinese). For example, if I go to chat room, I saw all the name show as ????. I have tried to change manu language to Chinese, But on Messenger, it still shows like ????. Anyone can help me on it?

You can either try downloading the chinese Y!M from http://cn.messenger.yahoo.com/ or you may be able to simply install the needed language pack for IE. Check out -http://www.ust.hk/itsc/chinese/iexplorer.html

One of these might fix the problem.

Hi shifter,

I have installed Chinese version Yahoo Messenger successfully on my XP one. But when installed it on windows 2000, I got problem. Some chinese fonts show as ????. XP has this problem also, but aftereI changed regional menu setting to chinese, ???? turns to readable chinese words. But after I changed some setting on 2000, it didn't work. Any idea why? Thanks

Ok, did you install the Chinese language pack for Win2000 as I suggested in the previous post?
