Profile doesn't exist after being added on my list

I have a buddy that I suspect has been talking to me with 2 or 3 different screen names, but are all under the same account. I have talked with this person, kindof figuring out it was the same guy, he asked me to add him so I did. Just today I decided to make a new "group" on my messanger list so I could keep all of this person's profiles together, but when I made a new list and tried to "drag and drop" the names into the new group it said they didn't exist. I tried looking at thier profile on yahoo. but it said "We're sorry but this profile is unavailible or doesn't exist". I tried putting other buddys into that "group" and they all worked. What happened to this one person's alias's? Why did they all of a sudden dissapear? is it possible he deleted them? oh, also, one of this person's profiles did come up when I looked it up on yahoo. but that one wouldn't even move into the new group I made... what in the world?! I would really appreciate any help!

what is a ghosted profile? I've looked up the profiles before, they had a pic and everything, it's just that now they aren't up anymore... ?

Do they still talk to you with the names that say that they do not exist? If not, then the accounts have been locked. If it is all the same sn and just different profiles, then you can't add their different profiles, I don't think. It is possible they use different screen names also, but in this case you should be able to add all of them with no problem. Try to view their profiles by typing in your web browser: http://profiles.yahoo.com/screenname and replace screenname with whatever profile you want to see. If a message appears saying: 'Sorry, but the profile you are looking for is not currently available' then the name does not exist or the account is deactivated. Even those screen names not in the profile directory should have a profile come up this way, but some are not in the directory. Hope this helps some.

I haven't talked to this person for a few days so I don't know if I can still talk to them via these other profiles. A few days ago when I talked to this person last (through his other profiles) I know they came up at the website: http://profiles.yahoo.com/screenname (btw, when I said I looked up his profiles I meant at the website http://profiles.yahoo.com/screenname, not the directory ) The only thing I can think of is he deleted a few of his profiles for whatever reason. but even though one of them still comes up with his pic and everything... it still not allow me to move his name into a new "group" on my messanger, it says it "does not exist"

Is there any way you can tell which of his names is a screen name or which ones are aliases? (spelling?) I know that when one of his names is online they are usually all online, so I don't think they all can be different screen names (different accounts). thanks for the help

Actually, it is possible for all his screennames to be online at the same time. Its called multilogin where you can login more than one name at a time. Ok. I just tested this on myself. When you go to profiles you have the option to add a new public profile to one of your screennames. I added a profile to my screenname and it treats it like a completley different screenname with a seperate profile and a seperate name that has to be unique on yahoo and can't be duplicated. The only difference is that the person who uses another profile on their screenname, the buddylist is the same. But you, since you added both names, will see both the names come on at the same time and logoff at the same time.

I moved my profile name to different group lists, and it successfully moved it. But when I eraced the profile, and when I logged onto my sn, the profile name on my other list was not lit and when I tried to move it, it says does not exist. The only thing is that he could erace the profile but you have the name on your list and try to move it, but he already had deleted it. If he still talks to you on it, its possible that he could always go back and add the same profile again to his name as long as its not being used by someone else. Chances are he eraced it.

The only way I know that can test if a profile name or screenname are the same person is if they login or out at the same time. You'll just have to look real fast if you want to catch them all if he has alot. Keep in mind multilogin is also a possibility, but all names have to be existing And don't always login at the same time. Multilogin just doesn't tell yahoo that a name is already logged in, so more than one can be online, but they have to be signed on individually, at least for mine.

thanks so much, I'll watch for that... I kindof think now that he has deleted them, but kept the orrigonal one. (also, the profile that still used to come up @ www.profiles.yahoo is gone too now.) thanks again for the help.

He could of deleted them, or the account got deactivated possibly. This is very simple if I want to know if ids are on the same account I goto the pw retrieval page, and I lock up the info on one of the ids, then I check the other ids, if the info on the other names is locked then they are all on the same account. I wouldn't suggest locking up a pw and using it to check it because it's not very consistent, if the info is locked, it works like clock work, and all aliases on the account will also be locked on the pw retrieval page, all it takes is 10 tries to lock up the info.

I switched to the europe server, one day the default server wasn't working an I haven't used it since.
