The only "details" that they could have changed is her password, and her zip code. That way she can't just go and remake her password.. easily. If I were her, I would just make a whole new account, and forget the whole thing happened. First thing's first though, is haver her do a scan, with either her anti-virus software, or have her go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp and do that one. It's better than norton's (found things on my comp that norton had been missing for months) and does it fairly quickly. Also, when she makes her new account, make sure her password would be pretty darn hard to guess, and have her put some false information into her account, such as changing her B-date and/or her zip code, and make sure that the answere to her secret question is an off the wall answere (ie. Q: What is my pets name? A: French Toast and lolipops). That way, people will have a really hard time trying to guess it, and they can't trick her into telling them what the answere is. Hope this helps.

These people probably used that "lovely" NASTY proggy to steal her password. You can go to that site(...is it free though?? ) and I'm sure it will scan well. Another way to look is using spybot S&D, though recently it hasn't worked for me at all, I use Ad-Aware and sometimes you can pick up things. It sounds to me, as I'm sure it sounds to many others, (including zhugeliang) that your GF has something on her PC that's given the info to these little freaks. And I know that creating a new account is the LAST thing your gf wants to do b/c she has important info on there. However, I don't think that they can change her birthdate OR if you know the original zipcode. Perhaps someone else knows more. In any event, remember this...those little dweebs that stole her PW will get theirs some day...the laws of the universe exact justice....they are probably ugly, little guys who can't get gf's so they just spend their time cracking pw's and ruining other people's lives. :sigh: Good luck though, I hope you find something that works and that everything works out for you.

Ok, first of all the online scanners are free and here is a list of popular virus scanners:http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm ; http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/indexie.php ; http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ ; and http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

More importantly I would recommend the following as well...a trojan scan (its free as well) at http://www.trojanscan.com/ and that you get a good spyware program like spybot or spysweeper and scan your PC for pests and tags as well. As far as the account goes, outside of trying to steal it back, consider it gone. Consider it a valuable lesson and move on by creating a new one. I recommend that you use a better password as well. Yahoo allows a maximum of 13 characters in a password and you should use them all - and include a mixture of numbers and letters. This makes it very difficult and exhausting for those trying to "hack" the ID. You may also contact Yahoo to report the offense, but I am not sure what if anything they will do about it since you don't know the culprit's ID. They could however close the account completely, which means that after a period of six moths it will become available to use again ( on a first come, first serve basis).

P.S. I recommend visiting http://security.yahoo.com/ to learn more about internet security.

Password Stolen

Im such an idiot! I got sent a link via my yahoo messenger by a person I briefly talked to months and months back. He seemed to have sent it to several ppl on his list telling them to check out his new website so I clicked. It was a geocities website but it had the yahoo photos homepage and i entered my id and password thinking he had put pics there and i had to sign in to check out the website or pics or whatever it was that was there. Anyway, now I can't log in or change my pw. I was able to find his profile, Can someone tell me how I can report this person. I don't know if he did this because I stopped talking to him or what. But he had said he was interested in me and i just wasnt..He was just a weird man going through a midlife crises who worked in a costume shop to me. I'm pissed.

How can people so wrapped in computers and the internet be so trusting, NEVER trust an online virus or trojan scan, get yer own program to do it with, i recommend Agnitum's Tauscan for a good trojan blocker/cleaner, and there are hundreds of antivirus proggies. Agnitum also happens to make a really good firewall, Outpost.
