Messenger made calls charged to my phone #

It happened 8 times in December and January. I know it involved Yahoo messenger because the call times coincide with times when I was using messenger.
It involved this # in Spokane Wa 509-252-7509. they called to my house from that # they were station to station calls. 4 calls each billing cycle totalling 85.30 each billing cycle. I got the charges dropped after much work with ATT. But I deleted yahoo messenger and have been afraid to use it ever since. Anyone heard of anything like this. Let me know.

It would seem that you have signed up for some type of premium service through Yahoo...and a re-curring one at that (for example, a Classifieds Listing, Mail Extra Storage, or the Personals Subscription). What I would suggest is that you contact yahoo's customer care department to resolve this matter. here is how to contact them:
http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/security/cgi_feedback

Street Address Yahoo! Inc. (for US)
701 First Avenue
Sunnyvale, California 94089
Phone (408) 349-3300
Fax (408) 349-3301
Office Hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST

Yahoo! UK Ltd (for UK)
10 Ebury Bridge Road
London
SW1W 8PZ
tel 020 7808 4200
fax 020 7808 4203

Also, you may want to go here and check to see if you have any type of premium billing accounts listed http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/premiu...eneral-02.html and http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/premium/ (be aware that the procedure for disputing charges varies acroos the different types of service).

I have never signed up for any premium service. I just downloaded messenger-thats it.. Also my computer is not even hooked up to a phone line and I never ever gave them my home # on any sign up sheet etc. So something is definitely weird. I cant believe I am the only person who has seen phony charges on their long distance bill as a result of being logged into yahoo messenger.

again, you need to contact yahoo directly in regards to this matter....
also, for reference...Yahoo is a Truste company, which means that if you have a problem and contacting yahoo does not resolve it you may contact this company and discuss the matter with them http://www.truste.org/users/users_watchdog_new.php

Keep in mind that this could be a simple billing mistake that yahoo is unaware of, or possibly a case of fraud...either way, you should start by contacting yahoo, and your phone company first to try to reslove the matter.
