Archiving cannot save offline messages.

I have enabled archiving and checked everything in it (i.e. IMs, alerts, conferences, text messages). But it still doesn't save my offline messages. Is anyone able to save offline messages by enabling archieving? My messenger version is 6,0,0,1671.

Yahoo no longer saves offline messages. They haven't for awhile now. Once you recieve them and read them they are gone.

I know that they stoped saving offline messages from version 5.6, but in the help pages of version 5.6 it says that if you enable archieving then you can still save offline messages. But that is not working for me with my version 6. Thats what I am saying.

You're right...I just went to Yahoo help and it does say that it will save them if you enable archiving. It sounds like you have done all the right things. Not sure why it's not working. Have you tried redownloading yahoo again? Just a thought.

Hew, atlast I figured it out.

I tried to reinstall messenger and repair it with no luck. I tried sending offline messages from different ids to one of my id. surprisingly it worked sometimes, but not always.

Atlast I figured that it saves offline messages only if those are from someone on your buddy list, otherwise not. It took long for me to get this because it saves all online conversations regardless of if the person you are talking to is or is not on your list. what the heck! lol

PS: BuckeyeGirl75, thanks for your help though.

umm, I noticed one thing. If you reply the offline message at the same time when you read the offline message, then the message archive saves the whole offline message. but again, it works for me that too sometimes only.

I dont step aside. I step UP!

The offline messages that I get appear in the archive with no problem. I use version 6. As JimmyWithTorch pointed out, if someone is not on your buddy list, then the offline message will not be saved in the archive.

On the archive preferences screen, I have all of the boxes checked. (On a side note, I also specify to delete message older than 10 days, but nothing ever gets automatically deleted.)
