Yahoo Messenger is not working now!

I was using Yahoo Messenger 5.6 and it was working properly but when this new Messenger 6.0 came, I installed it and the installation was completed sucessfully. But after that it stopped connecting. I tried every possible methods to connect for example!

I changed the connection from "No Proxy" to "with proxies" and I disconnected my net and connect through proxy with some other computer, my browser is working but this messenger still not working.

I changed other options like, no network detection, firewall etc. but still not working

then I uninstalled yahoo and reinstall again but still not...
then I again uninstall yahoo, deleted it's folder, went to Regedit, and deleted all the entries related to Yahoo and then install again, but still not working.

I'm really in very big trouble, I installed older versions, but all are not working since I installed this new 6 version.

Plz give me some suggestion as I don't wanna reinstall my Windows
(My windows XP is fully uptodate and antivirus is also uptodate no virus is in my system)

Regards,
Malik Khawar

May be your account has been locked by some one. In that case check http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/to...TOPIC_ID=11459 . Do you get any kind of error messages while trying to connect? email the problem to yahoo. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/messenger .

I dont step aside. I step UP!

Thanks for your reply, but the problem is with the installation of the Messenger not with the Account. I checked from the other computer, my accounts are working but here I can't connect. Messenger is giving the following error.

"We were unable to log you into Yahoo! Messenger.
Modem Users:
Try Again (Please make sure you are online and then Try Again.
Lan / Firewall Users:
Setup Proxy etc........

I'm online and having modem dialup connection, MSN Messenger is working and i'm browsing all the web pages but only Yahoo Messenger is saying that i'm not online, it is not accepting Proxy connection also.

I think something happened during updation of new version from 5.6 to 6.0. There is some wrong entry in Registry or somewhere, because of that Messenger is thinking that he is not online.
Now no version of Yahoo is connecting....

I contacted first to Yahoo Help.! but they send me the link of the page connect through proxy, nonetwork detection, firewall but no proxy etc.
this help was useless.

The final solution is reinstallation of the windows that I don't want to do. please find some other way/solution.

Regards,
Malik Khawar

On the original installation and the subsequent ones, was your messenger program completely closed when you installed?

No it was not completely closed, but the installation exe automatically closed it. I'm sure and I checked also at that time before pressing next, it was closed automatically.

I am having the same problem. Uninstalled, regedit to remove all traces of ym, reinstall... still nothing. Emailed yahoo support, which is a waste of time, still no response from them.
