Send a message via Yahoo to amy_d_g
Check your file tranfer options under preferences....Also I've known people to have problems receiving files because of their firewall, but I'm not sure how that works as I don't use one. What happens when you try to recieve a file?

My guess is that if happy is able to send the files it's not the firewall (if there is one), plus, MSN works fine. I think you're right Amy, the problem lies within the preferences. They may be set to never accept files from anyone or only accept them from people on the buddy list. I've had fewer file problems with MSN, but I prefer to use Yahoo! as well. Make sure when/if you change your preferences that you don't set them to accept from anyone without authorization...or you could get sent something really nasty.

I can send fine..have zonealarm firewall..never been a problem before...when I request a file sent I do not get the box that is asking me to accept the file....in my file transfer setting under preferences..i have selected..ask me before downloading a file selected..always been that way and worked before..any other suggestions..the other option is accept file if sending is on my buddie list..but I have never had this selected before...now what..i didnt update to the new version so that is not an issue either. Thanks for any advice.

You didn't update...that might be the problem actually, there are a lot of strange things happening when it comes to the older versions.

No I didnt update as I didnt like the version 6 but neither did my sister who has the same version as I do and hers works fine transferring and receiving files, so I do not think this is an issue. We are both using the same version, the last one before the new one. So why does hers work fine and mine isnt?
