Can't edit the Ignore list

For some reason, my Ignore List is (for lack of a better word) frozen. I tried to add someone to it by hand from preferences and it wouldn't let me, so I thought I was at the max number, and tried to remove a few IDs from it. I can't do that either.

And, according to messenger help on yahoo, I'm not at the max number of people you can have on your ignore list.

TIA,
HW

Yahoo really needs to work on the ignore funtion of their messenger. If you are in a spades lobby and ignore a person, or a bot, they will only remain on ignore as long as you are in the room. If you leave and come back, you will have to ignore again. I also had the problem you spoke of concerning not being able to edit the ignore list. This started after I downloaded the new messenger 6.0

Y!M 8.1 Can't edit / remove IDs from Ignore List

It's some time later (about 2 1/2 years after the original post) and I am having the exact same problem. If I remove names off my Ignore List, they are off for as long as I don't get disconnected. If I log into Messenger again, all the names I've deleted reappear (as they are downloaded from the server)

I think there is probably a limit to how many ignores you can have, although it doesn't state a hard figure anywhere on Yahoo's "Help" site. I was trying to clean out that rather large list, to no avail. In chat and game rooms, one has to constantly ignore the same bots over and over again. Frustrating.

Does anyone have a solution, short of not using the product at all? (or reverting to pre-6.0?)

Happy IMing

Yes, there's a limit of ignores you can have, and it will tell you you've hit the limit when it happens. I think the problem is down to cookies. Sometimes I've had problems deleting ignored because of the cookie.

You can try emptying your cookies In Internet Explorer's preferences (it uses IE), and see if it will work then.

Hi Ven0m,

I've never gotten a message that I was at the limit.

As for the cookies, I clean them regularly from my (non-IE) browser and the problem wasn't resolved.

Thanks for your reply. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Update: Ignore list edit successful!

Hi all!
In the meantime I've been able to clean out the bulk of my ignore list of over 175 IDs. I don't know what I did differently, but this time it worked. I did have to delete them in batches of no more than five at a time, but I had done that previously too - and they had returned!

Time to start fresh and add all those currently active bots!

Cheers! and happy IMing / chatting / gaming!

Well from what i recall yahoo! only allow 99 users per id on your ignore list so perhaps that is your problem.

but that could have been changed.

Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and wondering if anyone has an update on the "Ignore list " problems .. I only have a few people on my ignore list and i clean cookies on a regular basis. When i check my Ignore list the newly chosen person is listed there but as soon as i log out and back in again that persons removed from the list. I might add this is not the case for all i ignore, some remain, others don't , how is this done please ?.. Thanks in advance, Susan.
