Serious IMVironment problem

Someone tried to send me an IMVironment (I dont even know which one) and since then my yahoo chat window does not display any text (either the text that I type or the text typed by my chat partner). This has effectively stopped my yahoo. Same thing happens with Chat Rooms. I can not see any text typed by anyone.

I have uninstalled yahoo several times, rebooted my machine several times and re-installed it several times. This problem does not go away even if I change ids.

I noticed that the same problem was reported on 3/13/2004 but the person did not respond to my question. Are there people who know about this problem? Can you help me? Do I have to reinstall my Operating System for this problem to go away?

Please respond. Any help/thought/comment is appreaciated.

I am not very familiar with imvironments but u could try this.... Go to your yahoo messenger preferences then under messages disable imvironments.... Tell me if it works

Sorry I should have mentioned it.
Did that already, then physically removed the folders before another re-install. Also deleted entries from registry. No Luck so far.

Ok this has nothing to do with any imvironments, but its worth a try. From Yahoo help....

Another idea... have you scanned for viruses/spyware/adware/trojans?
AVG is a good A/V if you don't already have one, spybot S&D for spyware and Adaware SE personal for adware, all 3 are free.

Also, no need to post the same problem in 3 separate topics... it won't help you get a reply any faster, if anything it just makes it more confusing and harder for others. If you get new information or ideas, just reply to or edit the original topic.

Had to post in 3 different topics because my understanding of the problem evolved.
I have tried seceral A/V programs (McAfee, SpyBot , AdAware and a couple more). My machine is clean.

Also already tried the yahoo recommended fix. No Change at all. I am at my wits end.

I do know that the problem is as if the window is not receiving properly formatted HTML and therefore Yahoo Chat client creates a window of another type and freezes all display. I can re-create the problem using a C++ program.

Appreciate your response. Any more insightsw would be greatly appreciated. This has effectively shut down my yahoo messenger conversations. -
