Can't move contacts between groups

I am trying to do a wholesale revision of of my contacts list with Yahoo Messenger 6. This entails moving 100+ contacts under all new group names and deleting the old groups. After I relocate 6-8 contacts, messenger refuses to move any more contacts unless I wait an hour or so and try again. A couple of times I have moved a contact to a new group only to find it still residing in the old group. I can't delete the contact from the original group, it's like it doesn't exist but I can't delete the old group either. I've tried clearing my cache folder in the Yahoo directory but that doesn't seem to help.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can work around it, other than devoting a whole day to the project? There used to be a way to sort and group ones contacts by browser login to Yahoo. Does that capability still exist?

It's going to take you a few days to do that. I think it's just a glitch with Yahoo, that you can only add/edit/delete a certain number of contacts per day... after you reach the limit it seems the server will not accept any more changes. I had this problem when I changed ID's and wanted to re-add all my contacts. It took me about 3 days to get it done.

You could try Yahoo's web messenger, I'm not sure if this will allow you to do it all at once or not, but I guess it's worth a try.

The conversion is finally finished after working on it on & off for 24 hours due to the limitations. If this isn't some fried Yahoo programmer's attempt at discouraging spam bots or something similiar (or even if it is), Yahoo ought to get busy and fix this time limitation!
