How do they know when my cam is on??

hi...i stumbled onto this site because i was trying to figure out why it is that even though i'm logged on invisibly, certain people can tell when my cam is turned on? suddenly i start receiving these annoying requests from 'anonymous' and other people i've chatted with in the past. they'll request to view, or they'll send me an IM and start complaining when i don't allow them. i never answer, i just click ignore. but that's the OTHER thing...how come after i ignore them, they are still able to send messages??? it's so frustrating. i feel like i'm being cyber-stalked...

First of all welcome to BBB people can see your status if they are using any program like spybuddy search the site to see what is it about right here on the yahoo forum.
You must set your yahoo to receive msg only for contacts in your yahoo I think ignoring request does not block them,click on block and then set your settings as I told you this will set them in your block list and you won't get anymore msg from them.
About the cam I just posted about that sadly there are programs that allow people to see your cam without your permission,but if that is not your case check you settings to ask for permission to view cam just in case.

The same thing happens to me with this 'anonymous' person every time I turn my cam on and ignoring them doesn't do anything. It's very annoying.

Well firstly and foremostly,

You can not block Anonymous Cam Requests, v.i.a. messenger.

I do however believe Y! Tunnel offers this protection.

However, on a side note, that will not stop them from knowing when your cam is online or not.

Wether you 'block' them or not.

I suggest maybe using an alias to your main account to use your webcam.

Yeah I think if you create a subprofile and use that with the cam then the main id doesn't show the webcam message. I think
