Hi... could you give some more details such as your PC specs(HDD size, memory, processor speed)? Also, dou you have tools such as anti-spyware, anti-trojans and of course anti virus?

How much memory is in your pc? One of the biggest complaints I have heard about Yahoo v6 is that it uses a lot more memory than older versions. I did ok with 256mb, anything less than that (or if you have a lot of other programs running at the same time) will probably cause problems.

Did you do as suggested with Windows 98 and download the minimum attributes? There is a way to download the new messenger without all of the extra stuff. That may be what is slowing you down.

If all else fails jc457 you could try something called emessenger. With emessenger, you do not have to download anything . You are able to access yahoo, aol & msn through your browser. If you don't mind not having all the added features of the full download of yahoo messenger. You said you had to download the minimum anyway so it might be worth a try and it won't slow anything down ( at least it didn't for me )

I was having difficulty viewing profiles in yahoo games. I wrote into yahoo and complained. This is their response :

We understand and apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Please perform the following fix:

Windows 95/98/Me

Edit the File Association:

1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.

2. On the View menu, click Folder Options (or Options).

3. Click the File Types tab, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol in
the Registered File Types box, and then click Edit.

4. In the Actions box, click Open and then click Edit.

5. Click Browse, navigate to the \Program Files\Internet Explorer

and then click Close.

NOTE: You may also need to repeat these steps for the following file
associations:

Set Internet Explorer to check whether it is the default browser:

double-click Internet.

2. Click the Programs tab, and then click to select the Internet
Explorer should check whether it is the default browser check box.

3. Click Apply, and then click OK. Start Internet Explorer, and then
click OK when you are prompted to make Internet Explorer the default
browser.

You might try one more thing. There are times when NIS becomes very picky and for some reason won't allow my profiles to be seen ( if you have norton firewall , use the web assistant . If block popups are checked you might try unchecking it and allowing them. )

You might try this if you feel comfortable with it . Hope it helps a little.
