messenger suddenly not auto-logging me in to yahoo mail

From the yahoo messenger client on the yahoo overveiw tab you can click on the yahoo mail "_ new message(s)" line and it will log you in to Yahoo mail. In fact the first time you do this it askes you if you want it to always log you in automatically or something to that effect (i can barely remember since iv been using Ymessenger for years) Anyway, all of the sudden today, on 2 different computers it stopped auto logging me in to mail. That option is still checked in the Y! options also. Iv been logging in to Y!mail this way for years, when im done in mail I press the "log out" button. When i want to go back in i use the Messenger overview/mail tab. Logging out of mail has never effected auto-logging in (for those of you that might belive that by logging out of yahoo mail deletes a cookie which prevents you from auto-logging back in with the Messenger client which it doesnt.. well it deletes or changes a cookie but doent stop messenger from auto logging you back in). I have a friend that has complained about this for a while now but i always dissmissed it as a "user error" of some kind. Now its happening to me. Like I said, i have been logging in to mail for years, thousands of times, i havent changed anything or do anything different... Its just stopped... i also noticed that the URL Y!messenger uses to auto-log in to mail has changed to mail.yahoo.com where it used to be s.f330.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login? plus a long string of some kind that took you right to your Inbox... Does anyone know whats causing this? Thanks in advance.

So your saying the Browser window does not open at all when you select it or it does but does not connect?

Have you tried toggling the option ?

Have you got the latest Messenger?

Yes the browser opens and connects fine, but im taken to mail.yahoo.com`s log in dialog instead of being taken straight in to the inbox.. normally when you use messenger to take you to Yahoo mail, it opens your browser and takes you to something like us.f330.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login? which puts you right in your inbox..strangly enough this stopped happening after years of doing it this way.. I did infact toggle this option on and off in messenger, restarted messenger and the computer even though this is occuring on more than one computer..I do also have the latest messenger..i have pretty much decided that this is a bug in messenger that effects only a few people that i know of..

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? After having for as long as you say you have had it, maybe its not under its original conditions and a few files have gone bad? Try that and reset the preferences the way you want things working and let us know if that works.

On your preferences there is an option under General

"Automatically Sign me in when i click a Yahoo! link in Messenger"

Do you have it ticked ? (just to make sure same option)

What cookie level is your browser set at?

go to tools then internet options then check privacy tab on Internet Explorer

Yahoo! Login uses cookies and if you have programs blocking these then it will not login right and default to mail.yahoo.com.
