Help

Have your tried a complete uninstall?

Uninstall Yahoo Messenger then go to Program files and delete left Yahoo! folder then reboot.

Then come back and download latest at http://messenger.yahoo.com

Check and see if you have same problem.

If you do come back!

Keep in mind the things you mentioned require a p2p connection. Most of the imviornments require it, and it could be that somewhere in your filewall, or windows you have turned off the p2p, to not allow this type of connection.

It's an idea, and a place to look after you have exhausted other remedies.

Sometimes I get white boxes too when someone changes their avatar...it just takes a while to go through I guess. Eventually (sometimes days) it will show up for you. As for the "general error" you're getting, I'm not sure what's causing that. At first I was thinking you needed to download the newest version of Flash, but the avatars are images, not flash lol. Plus, it shouldn't say it's unable to load an imviornment, since you're loading an avatar...

I don't know if this will work since you have done complete installs but its worth a try. You may have a corrupt file in your cache folder. Deleting the cache files will correct the display issue.

Close the Messenger program if you currently have it running

Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\cache\Avatars
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\cache\Icon

Delete all of the files in the above folders

Sign in to Messenger and you should be all set.
