Does yahoo send an SMS message when a friend logs on?

I am looking at the yahoo mobile messenger with text messaging. I understand how to log on and send messages. Does yahoo send a text message when a friend logs on and off?

When i log out to mobile on my cell phone...Yahoo does NOT send a message telling me when a friend logs in or out. In order for me to see who is on-line i have to send the text message "Get" to Yahoo(92466). Then after i send it a couple of seconds later i get a text telling me who is on-line. That's the only way that i currently know of.

Doesn't it make it hard to chat if you don't know who is online?

Well for me it doesn't, i rarely check to see who's on-line from my phone....When they are on-line THEY text me to my phone so i know they are on-line. Then when they are going to log off they tell me so.
