My LAST NAME on my Yahoo Messenger!?!

I was talking to a new friend recently, and I strongly encouraged her to remove her last name from Yahoo Messenger. She said that she didn't know it was there, but then told me that MINE was there! I was blown away... she then told me what my last name was correctly.

I have looked EVERYWHERE I can find and the only place where Yahoo seemed to have my last name was in my main profile on Yahoo's main site because I had ordered something from a Yahoo Store.

I changed that to just my last initial, but I'm not sure that is where it came from, because there, I had my full first name, and on all other areas, I only used my nickname for my first name.

I'm confused...

Same thing happened to me. You have to go to the edit profile page for your main ID and change it to your initials or just your first name. Im assuming you are using 7.0. Seems when I was added on someones list, my name came up along with screen name. I believe theres an option to change that when someone goes to add you but, it doesnt stay for all addings. You have to change it every time someone adds you, which is annoying. So just change it in profilel edit page and youre all set.

I'm not sure about simply adding people to YM - I've never had any issue with surnames there, but....

Yahoo 360° is VERY VERY BAD in this respect !! Many times I have had friends accept my invite to join my Yahoo 360, and as soon as they do my 360 shows me their full name - or even sometimes just first name and last initial - which I never knew (or wished to know) on YM itself.

Example: John Smith is on YM, as BlackPrince. I know him well on there, as BlackPrince (but never knew his real name). He signs up to 360 (just using his BlackPrince name) then VOILA!, I don't even see BlackPrince mentioned, but... a new person appears on my 360 as "John Smith" !

If/when he realises this, he CAN change the default settings in 360 so he DOES show as only BlackPrince, but by then the "damage" may be done!

SHAME on Y!360° !
