Can't get into chat rooms

Ever since I download yahoo messenger 7.0 I have been unable to get into a chat room. I always get one of two messages and sometimes both. The messages are you have been signed out because you signed in on a different computer or device or signing in to chat took longer than expected. please try again later. I get the same messages with every screen name I use so I know it's not someone else using my screen name and password. I'm also getting "Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close" constantly.

The messenger is always very slow opening and extrememely slow closing and will usually freeze before it closes.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now and each time there's no change. Also, I uninstalled messenger 6 before I installed messenger 7.
I'm running XP and IE6. This is driving me crazy. Please help.

When you say you can't get into a chat room do you mean regular chat rooms or the user created ones? I know yahoo has removed user created rooms from the list and intends to delete the chatroom ability as well soon. Have you ran any spyware/adware programs on your computer? Perhaps try defragmenting as well. This might help. If the problem still persists feel free to post again and you will be attended to.

Perhaps you should switch your connections setting in preferences.

if its set to no proxies then try "no network detection"

see if that makes a difference.

it sounds like a problem with connection rather than messenger itself.

perhaps a firewall settings been too cautious.

Can't get into chat rooms

I'm sorry I should have specified Yahoo regular chat rooms because I know the user chats are closed. I run Adaware, Spybot and AOL spyware checker daily. My firewall settings allow Yahoo chat and I have used all the connection options and I still receive the messages I listed every time I try to enter. I defrag weekly whether it says it needs it or not.

Thanks for answering me. If you have any other suggestions, please me know.
