My Display Image Problems

I'm using the new version of Yahoo Messenger (7.0.0.437) and Windows XP Pro version 2002 SP2. I'm having a problem with 'My Display Image' and need help. Basically, I can't get it to work. When I go into 'My Display Image' the box for 'Dont Share a Display Image' is checked. If I change it to 'Share my Avatar' it works. The Avatar is displayed when I have a conversation with someone. However, if I select 'Share My Picture' it does not work. It will not save/keep 'Share my pic' keeps going back to Don't Share...'. Will not display any pic I select.

I've unistalled (completely) Yahoo Messenger (and all components) and reinstalled it several times now. I've run registry cleaners to remove all traces of Yahoo - but get the same results every time. I've cleared the Messenger\Cache\Avatars and Icon folders but no help.

Anyone have any ideas?

Send a message via AIM to aneagle Send a message via Yahoo to aneagle
Go to menu Messenger, Preferences, Display Image, Change Default. You don't see the change until it is recorded by yahoo server.

Tried that route. Does't work. Still goes back to 'don't share...

Been talking to Yahoo and they say their engineers are looking at it.

Some Programmer should be redfaced!

I've gone thru hell and back with this issue. I've reinstalled, reformatted....you name it!!!!!!!!! I discovered this glitch after a period of rapidly changing my display image which led to the symptom you describe read: unable to change display image but avitar works fine. After a lengthly investigation I learned from reliable sources that the latest version of Yahoo IM is one of the most problem plauged builds ever!!!!!!!! Some programmer should be redfaced, but sadly...i'm the one whose redfaced!!!!!!!!

all of us share the same problem then, with no geeks to guide us through simple steps so we can live happily ever after.but then again i think its more complicated than i think.
edied:i think its some kind of a built in virus !
