Ypager crashes or performs an illegal operation on startup or right click

This error often occurs because you are using a third party skinning application that modifies the Windows Look/Interface. You need to either remove the program, or open the settings, and disable the skinning of Yahoo! Messenger / YPager in the skinning application's settings.

Two known programs to cause this are Window Blinds and AlienGUIse. Window Blinds has a "per application" setting to override this.

I get an error when I try and login, "Your account is locked for security reasons"

This happens because somebody, perhaps you, or perhaps an automated bot, made many requests with a wrong password in a short period of time to gain access to your account. Most times, the person had no interest in gaining access, but knew this action would forbid you from gaining access yourself.

To fix this, login at http://login.yahoo.com/config/login. The first attempt will fail, say incorrect password or something. It's the second attempt that matters. What you will see this time, is that you have a word verification. This is a secure system by which only humans could be making the request, bots cannot see the text, they see encrypted numbers.

For some, this is it, the account will log in again! For others, it's not so. You have to wait up to 48hrs for the account to come back.

Can i remove my ID from someone else's list?

To remove your ID from someone else's list simply download DaB (Deny a Buddy) from Trolling_Around. Once downloaded follow these steps:

    1. Enter Your yahoo id
    2. Enter Your password
    3. Then next to Targets ID enter the screen name of the person whose messenger list you'd like to be removed from.
    4. (Optional) Change the Rejection Message to anything you want (example: "I don't want you on my list")
    5. (Optional) You may check off the "Tick to iggy Target" to put that person on ignore.
    6. Hit Action! and you have successfully removed yourself off that person's list.

The person will get the rejection message next time they log in if you are using version 7.0 and higher. (If you are using a lower version, which is rare since Yahoo! is dropping support of older versions, then they will not receive a message IF they are off-line.)

You can also at time of this post use Dermots Denial below

Where can i download old versions of Yahoo! Messenger?

Old versions of Yahoo! Messenger can be downloaded here or here.

*Note* Remember that some of the very old versions are no longer supported by Yahoo! so you won't be able to voice/cam/etc. on their servers.

View this thread here on the forum for a list of previous versions of Yahoo! Messenger.

Can people tell if I'm online when I'm set to Invisible?

There used to many program that had the ability to do this but with changes made a few months ago, these programs have become very unreliable. They will more often that not, give you false positives, which in my opinion isn't even worth the try! There are other ways people can try to check if you are invisible like inviting you to a conference but all you have to do is log out and you'll avoid having to respond at all!

How do strangers know my webcam is on?

There are programs to tell if a cam is on, if they know your Yahoo! ID.

And sorry no, we will not tell you the name of such programs as BBB respects the privacy of other users. If they do not wish to tell you they are on cam, then you shouldn't know!

Can someone record my webcam feed?

Yes! And there is no way to prevent from being recorded. So some good advice i read lately: Don't do anything on cam that you wouldn't like to be recorded. Behave as if you knew you were being recorded or don't cam at all!

Why doesn't Yahoo fix booter exploits?

Yahoo! does change protocals and p2p from time to time, but this apparently isn't enough to stop booters. Plus i guess stopping booters isn't on top of any of Yahoo!'s priorities lists.

Why doesn't Yahoo do anything about bots?

Well bots are always being created and if one gets deleted 10 could replace it easily. The only way to stop this would be to require people to show more proof of identity when they register for an account, which isn't going to happen anytime soon, since people wouldn't go for it and Yahoo! would lose out on potential users. So it's probably not worth it to them to stop bots.
