How To Enter Yahoo Group Chat Rooms with messenger

Appearently some know this but not most.

As far as entering yahoo group chat rooms with yahoo messenger, or any other chat client for that matter. It is generally has been done with invites or follows and once a chatters enters the room he or she makes it a favorite.

It is generally thought that basically only members can control who enters the room. That is not the case.

Yahoo Group Chat rooms (the ones that can be created when you creat a yahoo group) are accessable using the Java /join command


here is how you do it

/join *g.dshaven:1

will take you to dshaven:1 room


break down of the command

/join <--- standard join command

*g. <----the magic prefix for yahoo group room

dshaven <---name of the yahoo group

:1 <---standard suffix for all yahoo chat rooms these days


Additionally I have found that the /join *g. command for yahoo group rooms can only be used in YMSG mode. Not a consideration when using yahoo messy.

But, the /follow and /goto command will get you into these rooms if you happen to be using a chat client in YCHT mode
