How are offline IMs treated in v7 of Yahoo IM?

Hello evryone!

I am currently running version, 5,5,0,1254 version of Yahoo IM. I never opted to run version 6 when it came out because I didn't like the fact that it would erase offline messages.

I was wondering if the most current version of Yahoo IM (7.0.2.120) or the current Beta version (7.5.0.333) saves offline IMs? If they do via the archiving option, then can anyone tell me how dependable the archiving option is? i.e. Will archiving only save offline messages from people on your friends list or will it ALSO save offline messages from people NOT on your friends list? If I remember correctly, v6 would only let you archive offline IMs from people of your friends list. Lastly, can the messages be stored indefinately in the archive without fear of automotic delection?

My general impression is that commonly reported problems with offline IMs are not related to ANY version of YM, but rather to particular User Ids.
I've had same ID thru many versions - currently 7.5.0.333 - and never(?) a problem with losing them. (It's possible to "not know" you've missed one, but if often I guess friends'll soon make you aware ;-))

I'd suggest with ANY version it's 100% dependable, UNLESS you happen to be one of those mysterious "unlucky" Ids ?!

I believe so, depending on your preference settings of course, or until you switch computers, and obviously archives stay only on the particular PC they were received on.

Will archiving only save offline messages from people on your friends list

Ahhh, I THINK so, but can't confirm right now. (Send me a test IM, and I'll follow up where it goes!)
