Active X and script error problem with Yahoo Messenger!
Hi Friends,
I am happy I found a forum to discuss my problem. I will give a brief description fo the problem.
Up untill a week ago, the yhaoo messneger was working fine. Then one evening things suddnely changed and I started getting some Active X alerts when I trying to chat with my friends.
When I click the yes button to continue, Then a script error alert pops up and then the chat window appears. Alas! thats is not the end of it.... when I try to chat, the messages I send are not to be seen in the window, but, however I learnt that my friends can read them though. I cannot recieve their messages.
To the best of my knowledge there was no virus attck coz I have a norton antivirus program, running and windows firewall. May be a thin chance that I might have fiddled my internet page settings???? which I am unable to recollect.
Given these symptoms, can you come to a conclusion about what is wrong at the first place? was it my stupid act? or something else? The yahoo at my lab works fine for me.I tried manually uninstalling the whole program and reinstall it twice. But, not of any use.
I hope you fcan certainly help me in thsi regard.
Now I have a new problem at my work place too. Day before yesterday, my C drive was formatted for the reason taht the W32 virus has corrupted the windows OS files. When I reinstalled yahoo ,Sudenly the yahoo after succesful installation, when I try to use it again, it says, some track error occured with some code something like Xge3279GH appears and then the yahoo program does not open.It says click ok to close or cancle to debug. if I click debug again the same window pops up and leads me to no where.
I tried uninstalling the program manually and then reinstall it. It worked but only for few mts.Again when I tried using it, the same problem.
What is the problem? Was it beacuse of virus? can anybody help?
Thanks in advance.
Purush

Omigosh
It seems like you have just about every YM problem I ever heard of, Purush (AND some I haven't heard of!).
I really can't think where to start - I just hope you can somehow get things running smoothly again.

Welcome to BBB, Bavvy
Hey, you're welcome to ask Purush to exchange contact details, but equally the 2 of you are VERY welcome to discuss the matter right here, in this forum thread.
That should be just as good as - or better than - countless emails for you both, AND you may also get useful feedback from the many others who follow these forums.
(You may also be HELPING others who have similar problems).
Two heads are better than one - but 200 heads are better still ! ;-)

I agree with you Kiwi! This thread was created to solve the problem right? Besides the space here is free. By discussing it publicly, we might solve your problem, and helps others too in the process.
As for the ActiveX problem, have you tried doing a repair of your IE?
As for the virus problem, better do a scan in SAFE mode to make sure that the Virus you once had in your PC did not survive the reformatting. (Because I heard some do survive reformatting...)
Also, please let us know the solutions you have tried, and some info of your system... so we can sort things out better..

Okay someone correct me if wrong but i think they are the following:
Quote:
Occasionally, your browser may develop internal errors. Internet Explorer 6 has the ability to self-repair. - Click start, cursor up to settings, then click control panel.
- Next, click add/remove programs.
- Scroll down to "Microsoft Internet Explorer& Tools..".
- Highlight it, then click add/remove.
Have no fear, this will NOT remove your browser! - A box pops up, with the option to repair.
- Select it, and allow it to run it's course.
You may be asked to restart the computer following the repair.

Hope this helps.
I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

If all else fails, you might have to try a clean install of Windows.
