Help! My company blocked Yahoo Messenger and Meebo!

hi everyone,

our company uinstalled our ym from our pc's. we started to subsequently use meebo as an alternative. however, this was blocked! i also tried accessing ym's web messenger but i cant seem to enter. i can access my yahoo mail so i am guessing that there is a chance for me to access ym's web messenger.

if there is an alternative site like meebo you can suggest or help me access my ym web messenger, i will be most thankful.

help! ym was the only thing that kept us sane!!!

jack

Jack, Try http://www.e-messenger.net/ It should get you into YM, MSN and/or AIM. It's web based and has a different appearance than what you're used to, but these are desperate times! Good Luck

i know this is supposed to be helping you, but...

honestly, if your company has gone to the trouble of blocking messengers... you're probably better off not trying to go around them. if they dont want you using IM on their time, then you probably shouldnt. sorry.

As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today; I wish I wish he'd go away.

the thing is, they allow gtalk. but this companys so bureaucratic that before you can have them installed, it will probably take forever. moreover, ym is being used by the IT department.

that is why i am trying to find a web-based alternative.

I'm sure they pay someone big bucks to spend hours figuring out how to block IM services...you wouldnt want to be the cause of someone losing their job so I vote you go with VBM's suggestion...until the IT police come and haul you out. Lets us know what happens please.

You might want to read this about how many companies are monitoring IM use.

Blocked

As opposed as I am to IM's at work. I would be willing to send you an invite to google talk if you would like, see if that is blocked if not then you can invite your friends to google and try that until it is blocked. just send me message if you would like to try it. I would hate for you guys to go insane there. lol

I ran across another option if you want to run Meebo but your corporation has blocked it. Try http://www.freewebs.com/jake_watkins/browser.htm

lol they did the same thing at my school...e-messenger.net doesnt work either,or meebo...but for some reason skype was not blocked. But i dont wanna use skype (
Its not about the rules, the computers would probably work over time, all the time if messenger worked but...it would be nice to at least be able to see who's online while i'm at school, sweating and suffering for education

Dreaming of Armageddon...
