Yahoo Chat Blocking My Text

For a while now most of what I type in Yahoo Chat does not go through. I've tried different clients, and different protocols with no success.

Is there a fix for this?

Generally speaking this type of problem is due to not enough memory.
You could try editing the color preferences via yahoo! messenger to only do black text w/ your font of choice.

So open up messenger, go to the preferences window and then click on apperance on the left. Select always use my fonts and colors, then put your font as (arial or tahoma or verdana or times) on black

I think this problem is in yahoo server. I have P4 3.2GHz with 1GB memory. And this problem is not permenant. I am experiencing it since this morning. I have seen such problem before, but usually loging out of yahoo and loging back in solves it. But today that doesn't help either.

So many things can cause a problem such as this one. It could be as simple as the chat client messing up to your computer too slow. One thing you should do is make sure your computer is upto speed.

just because you have a lot of memory built into your computer does not mean your running fast. You should check your virtural memory and make sure something running in the background isnt bogging you down. Make sure your computer is well maintained.

I am not saying this will fix your problem but it could. The thing is to answer a question like yours will take a lot of hits and misses. Perhaps you will get lucky and it gets resolved soon perhaps not.

To help us help you the more information you can give this forum the better we can assist you into solving this problem.

Helpful information could be what messenger version are you using, the size of your system, what you have tried yourself but didnt work. have you downloaded anything prior to this problem popping up.

Windows XP Professional x64
AMD64 3400+
1GB RAM

  • Yahoo Messenger 7.0.2.120 or YahElite or Yazak
  • I always use the default black text.
  • It only happens in chat rooms, not private messages.
  • No significant installs before this problem occured.
  • The messages when sent appear locally on my window but does not appear server side.
  • The text "seems" to go through more often when using the CHAT2 server.
  • I noticed when using Yazak, after text messages have been blocked and one does manage to go through, the message begins with an extended asci character that looks like a b.
  • I "think" the problem started occuring while using Yahelite and going from one room to another fairly quickly, and using the /knock feature a lot. That's just my suspicion.
  • After I noticed my messages were not going through, I used another YahElite window to log into the same rooms to see which messages were going through and which werent. I'm not sure if Yahoo likes that, and would add to the problem.
I read a bit about this problem on this forum after I posted my original message. It was mentioned that the problem is server side and a solution could be to log out of yahoo completely for 5-10 minutes. I usually leave messenger on idling but I've had it off for about 24 hours now. I'm going to go into a chat room and see if the problem persists. If so I'll let you guys know.

The first message i sent in a chat room didnt go through. The second two did. The fourth didn't go through.

The waiting 5-10 minutes thing isn't a solution for me I guess.

Is the chat room very busy? and have you tried to post your message and wait and see if it is just delayed? sounds more like Yahoo to me, rather than with your system.

One thing you can try is to close down everything completely down thats running you do not need for chat. ctrl + alt + delete (to see what maybe running in the background).

another thing to try is find a less active chat room and see if the problems are present.

Its not you, its Yahoo

Once again, its yahoo making us crazy. This problem has been going on alot lately within the last week. Same things happen to me and my friends when we're in chat rooms. We've all been asking each other..."did u just see what i typed?" for days now. I've changed my font, i've signed out ..waited..signed in...nothing. Its Yahoo! Last month they took my profile where i couldnt edit it or view it. This month its my type. I'm just waiting to see what next month brings. Funny how OUR type disappears...but yet the bot's types are always there!! So you're not alone!!

Yeah.

It happens in every room, busy rooms, rooms with no activity, etc. I've troubleshooted all scenarios I can think of. I tested with old screen names, made new ones, no difference.

Maybe yahoo has my IP cached in the naughty list or something. So all that remains is changing my IP address. But I have some torrents in progress so that'll have to wait.

I have nothing but the essentials running in the background. Nod32 A/V, Windows SP2 Firewall, keyboard driver, and some Creative X-Fi crap, oh and Miranda IM.

Well looks as if this trouble is indeed yahoo as it looks as if you covered everything on your end.

with them going through so many changes, none of us should be surprised though. all we can hope for is they resolve these problems before we decide to go elsewhere.

sorry i couldnt be of more help. good luck.
