Pfft. I have never ever uninstalled before installing the newest version over the previous and i've never had any real problems.

Plus i've never heard of uninstall first... *wonders where you heard that*

So it's not based on smartness, it's based on if you have problems or not, and my way has never caused me problems so i shall continue it and i'm sure other people shall too!

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

I have to agree with Hatedjealousy I never uninstalled when upgrading to a newer version and maybe thats the key to a good set-up because i rarely have messenger problems.
I will agree that you can get a bad download and may have to uninstall and restall it which would only make sense but not to upgrade.

You two might be right, but what is the difference between installing over a good download copy or a bad download copy?

some of the bad downloads can come from a site that has spyware embedded in them.

Sorry Chris, but that is RIDICULOUS!
You sound like I sometimes suspect Yahoo and Microsoft etc to be - we make a new product - we test it thoroughly on ONE computer - THEN we issue it to the whole world and tell them it's got no bugs.

Only when you've ALSO tried it under every conceivable configuration of your computer (of which there are probably millions of combinations) - and each one under every type of internet connection - and THEN with different users (we all do things slightly differently, though still technically "correctly") ...... Only THEN MIGHT you dare to say "(I think!...) this has no bugs".

So, I'm glad for you that it works perfectly for you, but that doesn't mean it has no bugs.
(The reverse probably WOULD be true - find someone for whom some part DOESN'T work, then as long as they installed/operated it exactly "by the book" then you CAN say the program definitely HAS bugs.)

I find a great benefit of forums like this is you CAN find other people's differing experiences with a product, and hopefully find how "normal" or otherwise YOUR experience may be, then endeavour to figure the deep subtleties of WHY it may appear to work for one person but not another.

By all means tell people what works for you, but please don't then just assume the same will necessarily apply to them.

Ok lets break the manly talk with a silly question:can anybody see half of the 360 profiles when they're using the plugin?Let me explain this or better yet post a picture...The thing is that when you press the little square with an arrow in the plugin a slide window appears and from that another one with the updates, but you only see half of that and its not movable.Pretty ****ty if you ask me...
I dont like the plugins at all,i dont find them easy and fast to use nor do i need them to be honest.
So the only good thing (for me) with this new version is the MSN compatibility, which i havent tested yet...i'll probably go back to 7.5 if i cant even get rid of the ad...

Good grief, you're right, Strigoi!
Agreed, I also saw NOTHING of use or interest in these "plugin" thingies, so I don't use any. I guess I MIGHT use the 360 one, if it worked, but as you point oiut, it appears not to ... and it's obviously not a problem specific to you.

But... MSN compatibility seems pretty much ok to me, from the YM side anyway - and ultimately it'll mean I never have to WLM at all ;-) so I hope you'll persevere with it.

Eagle_kiwi is right but that would be a Hardware, Firewall, or Operating system problem. See Note Above.
At least we know Yahoo messenger 8 software has no found bugs yet!!!

Its not true that older messengers had no bugs. Example There was 4 bugs in chat rooms, Yahoo gave chat rooms no attention when it came out with the other versions. Still there are rooms you can't enter it pops up a warning can't create room, That is a server problem.

One Plug-in I like is YEmote from Wackyb.
You do not have to look up the code for the hidden emoticons.
