The one I posted is completely safe and working. I experimented with the same style of blocking which nikolas used with his latest one, and found it to sometimes not work. Besides renaming both "Messenger Ad" strings in YahooMessenger.exe, you have to remove the accual ad URL and replace it with a *.

EDIT: Accually, it seems he allready did. So consider his the "patch to use". Good work man.

Thanks, and yeah, just to confirm it's completely safe. I fixed the LaunchCast bug that was in the last one I released and I included the yahoo.reg to patch the ads other than the content list one and the multiyahoo.reg that lets you run more than one yahoo at a time.

Eh, using the patch I posted, nothing would go wrong. All the bugs are worked out, both methods require a file to be edited, so I'd consider both tampering. Either way, the patched yahoomessenger.exe isn't any less effective/unsafe. Nice job finding another method though, haven't tested.

Yes it does. It removes the whole container. I doubt you can remove the container without modding the program. Screenshot posted below:

Yep yep yep Nikolas' remover worked,i'm currently running an ad free messenger.THANKS!
But i dont know whats happening,Nikolas you said it'll remove the ads in the chatroom but it seemed it hasnt,or at least not all of them, when you pick the chatroom you dont get the ad anymore but just an empty box but when its loading the chatroom the ad is still there.Another thing i dont understand is why i cant see anybody typing in the chatrooms? It just tells me when they come and go but thats it.I heard that it happens when you chose to ignore eveybody who's not on the buddy list but i never chose that so whats happening?

Dreaming of Armageddon...

For note, the newest thread about the newest release posted by Dermot can be found HERE. (version 8,0,0,683)

PLEASE post things regarding the new version on the other thread, so there won't be any repeats on both threads. Thanks!

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

switch between viewing nicknames and IM names in Chat rooms, and Follow user

This file is only for 8.0.0682

res_msgr.dll move this file into C -> Program Files -> Yahoo! -> messenger

Backup the res_msgr.dll that is there.

While in a chat room click on "View" dropdown menu and choose "Show Nickname"

While in a chat room right click on someone in the list on the right and choose "Follow user"
