Hi, and welcome to BigBlueBall, Saurabh.

I just tried an IM to myself, and it wouldn't let me type past a certain number of characters. That exact number appears to vary depending on what I actually type, between around 765-815 somewhere (I may have miscounted by 1 or 2!).

And when sent, all that was sent was received ok, so I guess that would be the answer !?!

You said text message. Do you mean how many characters (words, spaces, symbols, etc...) are allowed per message? Or are you asking if there is a limit of how many messages in total you can send someone?

All this of course from PC to Cell Phone, right?

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

Alright. I couldn't find an official document by Yahoo! stating this, but after testing, the total amount you can send including spaces is 800.

Oh and i'm using Yahoo! Messenger 8 (the final version).

You win, HatedJ !

I've now double/triple checked it myself, and can only figure my counting earlier was waaaaaay out!
I now confirm that yes, 800 characters (including spaces) DOES appear to be the maximum.

Well, if it makes you feel any better... I'll confess, i cheated.

I put as many characters as i could, leaving no spaces, then copy and pasted to Microsoft Word, then used Word Count there.
