As I know, the "No Less Than 6 Characters" rule is only for the password. For Yahoo!'s ID, the rule is "No Less Than 3 Characters, No More Than 32 Charatcters".

Just a little correction.

No-Way, i do believe he is talking about the dot id rule that yahoo put it place to only have 4 characters after the dot.

Yahoo! Chinese third party partners allow you to have ones with like 2 chracters after the dot..etc

milky.fu
milky.sun

..etc

i may be wrong but thats what i gathered from his post.

These are chinese site third parties.

I believe some of them have stopped working.

i don't have any of the links handy.

yahoo! get partners ad lose partners as quick as the wind changes.

Or better yet they just buy them out and stop the special designated id's.

like .rm names been rocketmail and .geo names been geocities all bought out.

OK, I get it now.

Yes you still can make 2 or 3 letters after the dot

Here some of them that you can make:

.an
.bi
.chu
.dai
.du
.fan
.fu
.ge
.gu
.han
.he
.hu
.ji
.jin
.lai
.lei
.li
.lin
.lu
.lv
.ma
.mao
.ni
.pan
.qi
.qin
.shi
.su
.tan
.tao
.wan
.wei
.wen
.wu
.xi
.xu
.yan
.ye
.yi
.yin
.yu
.yun
.zhu

You don't need to make the ID on Yahoo China server.

Just go to regular Yahoo servers, and make ID that you want it, like example:

bigblueball.fan

and for this reply:

actually there are ways to exploit yahoo

its just a profiles, not an actual ID.

This profiles you can make from Yahoo Mail option, its called AddressGuard, the purpose is to confuse Mail Spammer.

And the reason why Yahoo stop they partnership with some of China's Company is because Yahoo get sued by Chinese Activist for give-away the information from Yahoo mail that used by Chinese Activist to Chinese Goverment.

no-way, I see you found the list, on the same page(yahoo comments on blog) is a list of third party accounts yahoo still accepts ie yahoo.116 - And as Dermot said, .sun is another exception yahoo allows, yahoo allows these exceptions to the rule as to not cause errors when these third party(asian most often) ID's log into the yahoo service.. So, with some knowledge of these third party extensions ie .116 - .sogua you can make other ID's (not on the list).. allowed but not advertised. For example, Anyone could make a .sogua ID from the yahoo registration webpage just as you would have a normal ID 'before' yahoo allowed dot ID's to be created. There are alot of users that have used these exceptions since long "before" yahoo 'allowed' dot ID's, the creator of ymlite being one. Anyone looking for an 'illegal' ID should really look for an "old" ID.

You can make dot names easily when you create Yahoo IDs.

dot id exploit

There was an exploit out about 2 weeks ago that let you make dot ids with illegal words in them like yahoo, admin, etc

yahoo! however patched it and deleted all ids made in the exploit time without notice.
