My YIM Disconnect Problem Solved

I scoured the internet and this forum looking for an answer to my YIM random disconnect problem. It would just log me off 6-10 times a day.

I finally decided to break down and email yahoo about it.

Yahoo said it was because my connection was slow during their peak periods that I would get logged off.

Their solution was to go to Preferences, Connection, and to use Firewall with No Proxies. Although I don't use a firewall. They said that Firewall with No Proxies is the strongest connection you can have with their servers. So.....I tried it around 24 hours ago and haven't been disconnected since.

Yes, using firewall and no proxies (YMSG+HTTP) is probably the best connection... although, a year ago (and for a long time) it didn't even work correctly.

Why thank you..... Glad to be in the presence of a Yahoo Expert.

The only problem with using Firewall and No proxies is that you can't use webcam and voice. Sucks.

I have issue with mine. It logs me off constantly for no reason I can see and the other day it came up wonky and without the top line available in the YIM windows. You know the top blue line with all the tabs needed to do anything at all, like preferences or even the X to close it out.

Anyone know about this?

Mine has been like that too for a couple of weeks. But now it's also knocking me offline when on YIM too often. I could use a heads up about it too. Thanks. Rob
