chat box problem

hello all!

when i type a message and click send in yahoo messenger, i do not see the message in the chat box, like wise when someone sends me a message through the im i do not see it in the chat box. Please help me out. What do i need to do to get it to work properly. It wasn't that way previously. I uninstalled and installed again but it still isn't working properly.
Please Help.

Hello and welcome to BBB! I'd suggest a complete virus scan with up to date definitions, and at least 2 separate scans for spyware/malware. I prefer Ad-Aware and SuperAntiSpyware for this, which you can grab on Filehippo. Again, make sure your definitions are up to date. Yahoo Messenger's performance has been greatly affected by spyware recently.

If that doesn't fix it, check your broswer and make sure pop-up blockers are turned off not only in your internet browsing preferences, but also in any and all toolbars you may have installed as well. While it makes general web browsing a little more annoying, allowing the pop-ups seems to fix this problem for quite a few people.

Let me know if these don't take care of the problem. This is a fairly common issue and typically one of these two solutions will fix the problem.

Do you have "Ignore anyone not on my Messenger List" enabled under Yahoo! Messenger's preferences > Ignore List?

Please take a look at this post as there may also be issues with scripting going on and it gives information on how to solve that problem.

If that doesn't work, I'll need a bit more information. May I ask what operating system you use? Also, which firewall and which anti-virus do you have? Finally, what version of Yahoo are you on.

I assume previously you had not experienced the problem and it started suddenly? Does it happen every time or is it ok some of the time and intermittant?

Did you make any other changes to your system around the time it started? New software...anything you can think of?

Thanx Patndoris, i checked the post link u suggested and i found a solution to the problem. the registry thing sorted it out. Thanx a lot.
