Blocking PMs on Standard Yahoo! Messenger Client

Is there anyway to block PMs in Yahoo! chat from those who are not on your buddy list? I ask since it seems to be a standard booting technique to overwhelm your computer with PMs from many accounts. If I click "ignore anyone not on my buddy list", then it also blocks messages in chat!

Downgrade to Messenger v7.0, or invest in a companion program like YTK Pro.

Thank you for your reply. I found a copy of Messenger 7.0 on a reputable site and downloaded it. But after installation, I looked at the options/preferences and didn't note any options to ignore PMs from people not on your buddy list without also ignoring all messages in chat.

Well, it'll be in the Ignore List section of the Yahoo preferences. Messenger 7.0 is the only working build of Messenger where that nasty bug doesn't exist.

I reinstalled the 7.0 build and it seems impossible to get into Chat rooms with it anymore. When you enter the menu to choose the room, it says "Getting category List", but never does.

Send a message via AIM to Torseq Tech. Send a message via MSN to Torseq Tech. Send a message via Yahoo to Torseq Tech.
Amerikaner08, I've seen this happen before. Yahoo! Messenger hangs when making the HTTP connection to the room list (insider) server. Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about it but to wait it out.

The last version of Yahoo! Messenger that doesn't have the ignore bug is version 7.02 which can be found here -> Download Yahoo! Messenger 7.0.2.120 - FileHippo.com
