Webcam issue probably mentioned a gazillion times but...

So 2 months ago I have no issues. Buy myself a wireless N adapter and yahoo webcam keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

Wireless adapter is a D-link DWA-140 Rangebooster N USB adapter.
My router is a belkin Gplus with nimo.

Have activated port forwarding turned on but regardless of this, on or off, the damn webcam stays true to dc/rc form.

Whether my hardware setup is the problem I don't know.

I've tried at least to my knowledge 3 clients all to no avail. The same thing happens. I turn on my cam and at no regular timeframe my cam will disconnect then reconnect etc etc.

If anyone has a patch or whatever I will be eternally grateful. but this is getting ridiculous.

Gaz

Hello and welcome to BBB! I know webcam issues can be very frustrating.

If it were just Yahoo, I'd blame the servers - but as you say you've tried 3 different clients - well it leads me back to your system in one way or another.

Have you tried taking the wireless back out of the picture to check if the problem resolves? If so - it's a definite clue in the right direction. If you go hard connection, and still continue with the problem - it very well may be something ISP related and might warrant a call to them.

Can you give a hard connection a try and let me know the results?

I had a Belkin router and it didn't play nice with lots of things. I got a Linksys and have had no trouble since.

Glad to hear you're fixed for now!!

Well it was working but once again it disconnects and reconnects. It looks to be honest as though it is searching for a positive lock. I know yahoo users several servers, and to me it looks like the cam is searching for an available slot. As after a while it manages to fix itself.

Gone back to using my N wireless as the G+ started disconnecting so in the end made no difference whatsoever.

The other issue is that after an indeterminate length of time, the whole of messenger will shut down and it acts as though I'm booted.

Am using YTK Lite, which is the better of the clients i have used so far but still falls short of what must only be a Yahoo server problem. Its strange that no one else I know suffers from this cam problem.

What can i do

Cam on Yahoo is very unstable right now. Have you tried using another messenger client such as WLM to see if the problem continues with the G+? If it doesn't it's a Yahoo issue you can't control. If it does, then perhaps it requires further investigation.

But, with the massive amounts of problems people have with Yahoo and webcam right now, I'd strongly suggest trying another program. You could spend hours or days trying to fix something that isn't even a problem on your end.

I know you tried several clients previously on the N but have you tried this with the changes you made?

The webcam servers are completely SCREWED right now. Nothing you use will do anything about it. Might have to use an alternate IM service like Windows Live Messenger or AIM.

People suffer from it and other various different cam related server issues.
