I don't know how Yahoo mobile works since I never used it, but I will use some computer or technical common sense in this matter:

Maybe it doesn't have a camera built into the phone or maybe its blank because something is blocking the camera (something on the actual lens). Or maybe you have to go into a setting and tell it to use your phone as a camera?

If the screen is black, then Yahoo! Messenger doesn't support the camera in the phone.

Best to use an actual webcam, like Logitech.

I never heard of attaching a wc to a mobile phone. Messenger on the computer is all I would need anyways. It must be hard to type on the phone and see things like a messenger window on that tiny screen and a computer can do so much more and keyboards let you type much faster.

We'll have to wait for mytigo to respond, but I think he is using Yahoo! Messenger on his computer, and only wants to use the camera on his mobile phone as a webcam (hooked through the computer, obviously).

I know that some phones and software combos will let you do this, but it's fickle. Webcams are cheap. Spring for a regular webcam, dude!

I'm not quite sure what caused your problem...but agree that using a regular webcam will be best for you.

I have heard that Logitech makes very good webcams, but I use a Microsoft Lifecam VX3000 and it works pretty well for me on MSN and Yahoo! Messenger. I got mine (new) for less than $20 on eBay, just type in "Lifecam".

Be prepared to pay a bit more for the Logitech ones, though. They tend to sell at higher prices than others listed.
