Is there software that will automatically sign you out from Yahoo Messenger?

i was just wondering if there is a software or if there is something in yahoo messenger that allows you to get signed out without having to get into the keyboard of your pc. a software that has a timer where you can choose to sign out, lets say for example after 4 hours of voice chat and you already want to sleep and the person on the other line might just think that there had just been a problem with the server and you didn't actually and intentionally signed out?

i was talking to somebody earlier tonight and i was looking at him lying in his bed ready to sleep via webcam. he wasn't close to his pc's keyboard and then suddenly, the window said he has signed out. i was suspicious that he might be having a software that has a timer he has set allowing him to sign out anytime to he wants to, that is why i made a query. so you think ym has just crashed, that is why he suddenly appeared offline?

There any number of reasons - from a Yahoo crash, power outage, ISP glitch, software conflict, computer crash, or even a computer set to go to sleep after a period of inactivity. The possibilities are many.

We can only answer the question you posed - which, as Ven0m said, is that we are not aware of software that would allow your contact to control Yahoo in the manner you described.

If this is something that troubles you, you might simply try asking your contact what happened.

There are some proxy servers that can be configured to control hours of use. They are sometimes installed by parents who want to limit online activity to certain hours. This could've caused your friend to go offline, too.

Him getting booted is another (likely) possibility.

I for one made a program myself called "Shutters"

This program will reboot or shut down my pc on a timer that i choose.

Yahoo will logout before it closes by design on a shutdown sequence.

I also tend to mess about on the pc while i lay in bed and been known to sleep and thus why i built it.

It's not unheard of to think that person had not got something similar.
