Yahoo Messenger Blocked Avatar

If someone blocks you from Yahoo Messenger, can you still see their avatar?
Because I have this friend that I all the sudden see a grey smiley avatar and my friend has always had a photo up that I have been able to see even when my friend is online or offline.

Hello and welcome to BBB! Yahoo display pictures have been buggy for a long time now. Sometimes they work - sometimes they don't. It is not an indication of you being blocked.

Give it some time and it will likely just all come right and one day the display pic for your contact will magically be working again.

Yeah, the display pictures and Y!Avatars aren't any means a way to tell if you're blocked or not.

You should still be able to see when your contact is on or offline. The display picture won't affect that.

My experience is that some contacts never seem to have issues with their display picture and yet others seem to have troubles over and over again. It usually only takes a few days for it to straighten itself out.

Don't get too frustrated by it. It's just a fact of Yahoo life.

Programs like norton, mcafee and zone alarm block image download requests from programs like Yahoo Messenger and yahoo shows a black block, this can also happen if your request to the img.msg.yahoo.com server is broken for whatever reason.
