Error installing YIM

I keep getting an error installing YIM, saying

"Yahoo is unable to download files needed for installation. Check my firewall settings."

I've enabled incoming and outgoing entries but no changes.
I even ran ccleaner for any bugs, but nothing.

suggestions?

What firewall are you using and did you reboot since you changed the settings?

You need to turn off your firewall and your Anti virus software before you are going to be able to download and install messenger. Go here instead of trying to get it from the Yahoo messenger site freecreed.com. I do recommend you get the 8.1.0.421 version as it is the most stable a bug free version of messenger, Stay away from any of the version 9 messengers they are full of bugs and nothing but trouble!! When you download it just save it to your desktop and then run the installer from there.
If you have XP just double click on it to start the install.
If you are on Vista you will need to Right click on it(the installer you just downloaded) then click "Run as Administrator" to get it to install correctly. Hope it works out for you!!!

I always recommend using the latest stable build (which in this case is 9.0.0.2162) and to download from the official source to avoid potential corruptions and/or malware when retrieving a file.

Ven0m has a perfectly valid link to the most recent version in his signature. I would strongly suggest using it rather than downloading an old version from an alternate source just now.
